Helen taught for several years after graduation and then completed further study and moved into psychology. She lectures in psychology in the Faculty of Education at Deakin University, Burwood, Victoria and also has a private psychology practice at Linacre Private Hospital in Cheltenham, Melbourne. She lives with her husband on the Mornington peninsula. Helen has three sons who have taught her a lot about the joys and challenges of parenting.

Toni was a classroom teacher before moving into psychology. She combined University lecturing with a part time counselling practice in Melbourne before moving to Sydney. She now lectures in education and psychology in the Faculty of Education at Australian Catholic University-National in Sydney. Toni has recently completed the Authentic Happiness Coaching course run by Professor Martin Seligman, Past President of the American Psychological Association and is a certified graduate. She has a daughter and lives with her husband in a beach side suburb in Sydney.

Both Toni and Helen present keynote addresses and run workshops for teachers, psychologists and related health professionals on topics such as student resilience, managing difficult people, effective relationships, teaching social skills, multiple intelligences, the thinking curriculum, behaviour management, anti-bullying curriculum, effective engagement in learning, boys and literacy, mixed ability teaching, cooperative learning, special education and gifted education.
They both present talks to parents on resilience. They also run seminars for businesses and organisations on resilience, dealing with difficult people, interpersonal skills, and critical and creative thinking skills.
They have collaborated for many years after working together in Melbourne. Now, despite living in different states, they have successfully collaborated on a collection of projects and books such as the BOUNCE BACK! books, Different Kids, Same Classroom, and the newly revised series Eight Ways at Once (originally Seven Ways at Once).
